Abstract

Goal. The purpose of the article is to provide a general description of the recently created law enforcement body of the European Union in the field of combating financial and economic crimes - the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPРО), as well as to outline the prospects for establishing cooperation with it by the competent authorities of Ukraine. Methods. When conducting the research, a complex of general scientific and special methods of scientific knowledge was used, in particular, methods of formal logic, dialectical, and comparative law. The results. It was established that the EP has a two-level structure with central and national levels. The central level consists of a central EU-level service located in Luxembourg, headed by the European Prosecutor General. At the national level, European authorized prosecutors carry out the actual investigative work and have the tasks and powers of national prosecutors, unless the provision provides otherwise. European Public Prosecutors work independently of their national authorities, but are bound by the instructions of the Permanent Chambers. Priority areas of cooperation with Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are recognized as helping Ukraine in overcoming corruption, effective fight against evasion of sanctions in the world, introduced against persons of the Russian Federation due to aggression against Ukraine, freezing and confiscation of assets of the banking system of the russian federation. Conclusions. It was concluded that not only Ukraine suffers from russia’s criminal actions, but also other countries of the European Union and the whole world. Therefore, the close cooperation of the law enforcement agencies of our country with the relevant bodies of the European Union and, first of all, with the European Prosecutor’s Office, is extremely necessary and important for all interested parties.
