LEGAL DIMENSION OF STIGMATIZATION OF WOMEN

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to research certain aspects of the legal dimension of the stigmatization of women. To achieve the declared goal and obtain the appropriate results, the following combination of methods was used: historical-legal, systemic-structural approach, methods of formal logic, grouping method. Results and conclusions of such activities. Stigmatization as a negative social phenomenon manifests itself through a prejudiced attitude, isolation and discrediting of a person based on imagined or real features, formulates negative stereotypes in society, causes social exclusion and discrimination, harming rights individuals or groups. Prerequisites for the development of stigmatization are the presence of fixed stigmatized attitudes in society, and the causes are the so-called stigma reflects society’s reaction to deviations from its norms and determines the place and role of a stigmatized person or group of persons in this society. One of the types of stigmatization is gender-based stigmatization, which consists in negative attitudes, stereotyping, or prejudices against individuals based on their gender and leads to the development of gender discrimination. Stigmatization of women is based on historical, cultural, religious, economic and political factors and manifests itself in various spheres of social life (in the sphere of education and science, employment, politics and civic activity, in family relations and the sphere of women’s reproductive rights, in culture and social networks, etc.), Stigmatization of women in various spheres of life violates their fundamental rights and interests.Overcoming the stigmatization of women in the legal dimension consists in the creation, implementation and effective application of legislation and policies that guarantee the equal rights of women, protect them from stigmatization, and also contribute to the change of social stereotypes. The legal dimension of combating the stigmatization of women involves not only formal recognition of equality, but also active work on eliminating stereotypes, ensuring access to justice and creating equal opportunities in all spheres of life, and the effectiveness of this process depends on close cooperation between the government, civil society and international partners , which will undoubtedly become the subject of our further scientific research.
